“The Wrong Way”
I feel good
I feel fine
like I could do
anything I want to
I feel high
You make me want to
Give up my poetry
Writing down my feelings makes me so sad
I got problems
Baby don’t I know it
But when I’m with you they don’t seem so bad
I feel good
I feel fine
like I could do
anything I want to
I feel high
I used to feel like
I was falling apart
Every day I prayed for the strength to run away
Now nothing’s changed
Baby it’s still dark
But when I’m with you I can bear to stay
I feel good
I feel fine
like I could do
anything I want to
I feel high
I spent days
Baby I spent nights
Scared to look in the mirror for fear of what I’d find
Now when I’m afraid
I just push it aside
I don’t ever need to worry with you in my mind
I feel good
I feel fine
Wrapped up tight in your sweet cocoon
Feel like I could do
Anything I’d want to
If I could only find something worth doing
A world like a dream
That’s what you give me
The sweetest dream that I can just float through
Don’t ever leave
Make me go back to living
Don’t ever leave me, I’m addicted to you

This uses a similar method to the faux malachite necklace I made last year, but with slices of a rose cane instead of a malachite cane. The spacers are rose quartz rounds. Looks a little Asian, I think. I made some matching drop earrings as well.

Since big bead necklaces seem pretty popular this season, I tried making some big beads.
The color is just leaf green sculpey plus some gold sculpey, about 3 parts green to 1 part gold. To make each big bead, I formed the sculpey over a styrofoam peanut. That makes the beads light enough to be comfortable. The beads are about 1 inch long.
I ran out of my colors, so I was only able to make 5 beads instead of a full necklace worth of beads. So I strung them with wood spacers and tortoise/amber color mix seed beads (size 11). I am hoping that the seed beads resemble a thick chain.
One warning with the styrofoam peanut method is that it can be a little difficult to restring the beads after baking. Since the channel isn’t solid (instead the beads are ‘hollow’ / filled with foam), the stringing cord/wire tends to get a little lost inside. The foam helps guide it a little, but not as much as a solid bead.

Another gemstone necklace. I have been experimenting with necklaces that require more costly supplies, but take less time to make. Sculpey is cheap but it always takes me 2+ hours to make a necklace. Stringing gemstone beads takes less than an hour.
I got the supplies for this sodalite necklace from http://fusionbeads.com/. It’s a favorite of mine because of the free shipping on any order and because you can order components singly (e.g. buy only 1 clasp instead of a pack of clasps). That makes it great for trying new designs.
Shopping list for this necklace set:
| 3mm Montana Blue Fire Polished Round 50 pieces |
1.37 |
| 2×2mm Sterling Crimp Bead 4 piece |
0.28 |
| 40mm Sodalite Donut 1 piece |
3.99 |
| 4mm Sodalite 16 inch strand |
4.49 |
| 6×4mm Sodalite Rice 16 inch strand |
6.49 |
| 24×6.3mm Sterling Squiggle Donut Bail 1 piece |
2.73 |
| 20×7mm Silver Plated Magnetic Clasp 2 piece |
3.84 |
| Total |
$23.19 |
This is for two necklaces also – they can be worn as a set or worn alone.

While shopping for jewelry supplies, I came across a project idea for a simple cord necklace: http://www.fusionbeads.com/inspiration/inspiration_detail.php?ipid=1568
I made two variations – a pink cord with aventurine and a celtic knot charm for ladies, and a black cord with African jade and a spiral charm for men. At least I think the black one looks manly. The African jade looks more rock-like and less shiny and gem-like than the aventurine, even though they turned out to be similar in color. When the black one is worn, the slider knots are visible too.

Since it’s hard for me to determine designs what will look manly before I finish them, I made several sample beads for my male friend to evaluate. The ones that were not manly, or not good for him, I made into elastic bracelets for myself.

A male friend asked me if I could make some beaded necklaces for him. It’s hard for me to determine designs what will look manly before I finish them. These are the two that he liked. One is made of blue green color-blend beads. The other is made of dark red, brown, and bronze striped beads.

I developed a floral-looking design with the initials CG, and had a set of felt coasters made from the design.
I used Ponoko to make the coasters. Ponoko is a service that will laser-cut a variety of materials from user-submitted designs. http://www.ponoko.com/
I was a little disappointed that the CG letters look so obvious; I had hoped that you’d have to “look twice” to see the monogram in the floral design, but that is not the case.

What’s new, Eugene?
Well. What’s new. Hm. Oh! Here is news: Today is Thursday. First Thursday of this week.
Also the last.
That’s right! That’s TWO news! … Another news: it is very cold.

Lately I have been interested in signature prints and monogram designs. I see them on purses everywhere. I’m working on signature print and monogram designs based on my own TLCG letters. Here are some examples of the printed purses I’ve noticed:

Aigner

Coach

DKNY

Dooney & Burke

Fendi

Gucci

Guess

Ralph Lauren

Tommy Hilfiger
